For anyone that missed it, on April 22, 2022 (Earth Day) IEEE published a new standard that is important for those dealing with Electric Transmission systems: “IEEE 2800 – 2022: IEEE Standard for Interconnection and Interoperability of Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs) Interconnecting with Associated Transmission Electric Power Systems”. IBR’s include Solar PV, battery energy storage, and wind.

This standard is voluntary until the Authority Governing Interconnection Requirements (AGIR) makes it mandatory. Topics covered in the standard include capabilities and performance for active power control, reactive power control, voltage and frequency ride-through, voltage support, power quality, protection, and more. This standard is very important as we increasingly progress to power systems with very high penetrations of IBRs connected to transmission. #solarpv#interconnection#energystorage
